Blue Smoke

Fashion Photography is tricky business. As much as I love creating photographs with the right blend of outfits and accessories, makeup, posing, lighting, and props thrown in, it is extremely tricky to get the blend right, just the way I want it to be! But regardless, one must plough on :)

Presenting, this thrifted, voluminous señorita skirt, with the cutest leopard print I could find, in town! Its so heavy I dare not wear it outside, and I can't decide what look it captures-but it is an interesting blend for sure! I teamed it up with this old, Forever21 blazer which I purchased in New York, 5 years back. Is from this amazing store at Times Square, which I visited time and again, feeling that I was in a wonderland, every minute I walked through the numerous, fashion-stocked floors.

Added this statement necklace from Accessorise, again purchased a year back, in the last days of college, with my TA money :D

Many strained poses, fight against the waning evening light, and some editing later, here we have some four pictures. Hope you like them!

Do write and let me know what you think! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend :)

XOXO

Princess of Quirk

How this outfit came about:

~When I saw this printed shirt on the street, I HAD to buy it! (hello, quirky cat faces?)

~I never thought I would wear a turban, but when you have a scarf that is so interesting and fits snugly on your head, I figured why not?

~The henna design on my hand is a product of an aimless and depressing evening, which brightened up a wee bit after toyed about with a  henna cone, because, who doesn't like an over-sized flower on the back of their hand?

~The maxi skirt (with pockets)  is from Jabong.com, and marks my foray into the world of online shopping.

~The black crystal earrings were respectfully stolen from my Sister Dearest.

~The blue suede shoes are courtesy Indiebazaar, love the innovative Indian stuff on their website!

And so the princess of quirk was born. *drumroll*

Love,
Shubhi!

Hair Experiments in Bohemia

My life in the last week seems to have gone through a 180-degree shift. Is it because of a new job or maybe a new relationship? No. It is because I got side swept bangs. You heard me!

Now I come under the category of people whose hair is sympathetically handled by hairdressers. 'You should try a different conditioner', they say sadly, with a glazed look in their eyes.  Well, most hairstylists out here just don't get hair that isn't long, sleek, black and shiny. So I was always the girl who looked wistfully at other girl's gorgeous fringed hairstyles, too afraid to ask for it on my own wavy to curly hair.

Until I realized I had a pair of world class hair-cutting scissors and my head, both safely reposing in my closet!  And this magic video. And the rest is history!

Moral of the story is: Everything looks more amazing with bangs. ponytails, braided hairstyles, the simple two-side hair pin, the milkmaid braid I've tried out in this post, everything. I could easily overlook the frantic fear I face of my bangs getting out of place in the wind while sitting in a bus, or the need to carry a tiny comb around!

This fantastic DIY video explains this easy braided hairstyle, it took me exactly four minutes to do! Its perfect for summer, keeps all your hair where it should be-on top of your head!

Also, my love story with head flowers continues. I was so happy to find a hamper full of flowers, c/o Ayesha from their 'Purple Haze' collection, at my doorstep! Ayesha has an amazing range of unique and quirky hair accessories. They will definitely appeal to the Bohemian in you! And they are so affordable too!

Bohemian Rhapsody

About the title, it is my favourite song by Queen of all times! I am a firm believer Bohemian Fashion though-there is a wild gypsy hidden deep inside everyone! Anyway. This outfit is a mix of classic and boho, mainly because I kept the accessories minimal. But I would definitely do a full gypsy with a floral headband, Chunky Bangles and the works-someday!

I got this crinkled skirt from Colaba Causeway a few years back, and I am in love with its print ever since! Whenever I want to go major colourful, I can bet these skirts will do the work for me!

Iv'e been wearing this ring pretty much everywhere since I got it...
And pearl necklace from Ginger, Lifestyle.

These trusty black ballet flats, are most comfortable shoes ever!

Photo from my holiday -Colours and Flairs-Just like the skirt!

Hope you liked the skirt..do leave me a comment and let me know!:)

Indian Springtime

Springtime in India is warm, very warm. The wind drifts by lazily and the bees drone drowsily. The afternoons are hot and sunny..

Spring is also the time to get out my fabulous and colourful cottons! I wore this outfit at home the other day, when friends were visiting. The skirt is colourful, and not to mention airy!

Large, chunky Jewellery is the flavour of this season, and I went crazy playing about with bracelets, bangles and earrings!
But I always try not to over accessorize, so this is what I matched in the end..

Brass Necklace Worn as a bracelet..
Navy Blue Gold-edged Bangle from Causeway.

Gold Earrings from HnM...I love these, they are superbly finished, and have lovely colours!

Close up of the earrings:

I found this necklace at a street-stall the other day...the beads are Velvet covered, and the colour is very vibrant and rich-looking! I bought it in Grey too X)

Inspite of the heat, spring is beautiful in its own ways..
The light fragrance of  white champa flowers fills the air..

Little 'tuti' berries ripen into a rich pink...

And the trees reach heavenward, towards the Sun!

Posted by PicasaHope you have a lovely spring, wherever you stay! And those in India, do not complain, the summer will bring mangoes very soon, remember!XD

Hope you like this post.
Keep Smiling:)
