Blue Void

I find an increasing urge within me to create. Create films, artworks, pieces of writings, photographs, presentations, and posts.

The words that are carefully chosen to fit into pieces of poetry morph into the accessories that go into the making of an outfit. The mood that a piece of music evokes turns into the color theme and placement of subjects in a photograph. It is all the same, you know.

Part of it is pure instinct, a sort of ghost inner voice that makes you create in a certain way. The other part is the one which requires careful deliberation and thinking.

It is creation that keeps a creator alive.

Love,
Shubhi!

Vintage Pop

Off late, I've been obsessively looking at Katy Perry's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RMQksXpQSk

Why, you ask? The combination of fashion, graphic design, craft, and the groovy retro styling just has me drooling! I dream of working on such a video someday..
Meanwhile, I've been dreaming of tulle, making the old flower crowns, and finding vintage bags on the street.

How goes it with you folks? The October heat is killing us here in Mumbai, praying for the sweet winter and Diwali, with it!

Schoolgirl Chic

Aah, remember those amazing school-days? The mandatory prim behavior, the compulsorily braided hair,  trimmed fingernails, the 4-fingers-above-the-knee skirt length(I went to a convent school) of the daily uniform. Back then, I took special pride in being an ideal student, and was a proper bookworm! Lots of things have changed now, thankfully, and sometimes I think I have aged backwards in terms of maturity!

But at times, I still want those days back, when life's greatest challenge would be to write the best possible essay for English class. Sigh.

PS: Somewhere between writing the above two paragraphs I got a sentimental and added a picture of my school. Isn't it extra-beautiful?

DIY : Purse Primping

This purse was street shopped in a local market. It had been lying around in my closet for sometime, and I decided to give it a face lift .  It already had this pretty braid all around it, so all it needed was some painted-on Polka dots!

Materials: Brush, Acryllic/Fabric Paints in the desired shade.

It is important to note that the shade of polka dots you choose can make or break the new look of your bag. I decided to go for this dreamy, almost neon pink shade(That I got by mixing two shades)   , which has (thank heavens)  ended up looking preppy and fun!
Another colour, like perhaps red, would have looked boring and predictable.

Another tip: Choose a plain bag, with not too many embellishments or buckles.

Too many instructions?  Never mind. Just do your thing, clip on a flower or a bow, and you have your own unique DIY primped purse!

I apologize that I haven't been replying to blog comments off late..It is unforgivable of me! But I've been so swamped(Preparing for design interviews), that the posts are just getting auto-published from my drafts...I'll be back full swing next week!

Dots and Dashes

Some outfits are a no brainier.  I put this together in exactly 3 minutes, (I was supposed to go shopping with mom and put off getting dressed till the VERY last minute.) and ended up feeling that I didn't do much of a good job. But that's for you to decide.

Black, lace, dots, and stripes.

Dress: Thrifted
Jacket: Forever21
Bag:HnM
Shoes, cuff, ring: Local Boutique

While my fellow bloggers from the west are crying about how that can feel the spring coming but its not quite here yet, the Mercury  levels in Mumbai are at an all time high. Pff.

The New Year

I get a bit sentimental on my blog roughly about once in six months, and I'm afraid this is one such post
I started my blog exactly one year back, and so far the journey has been far more exciting and amazing than I could have ever expected! And now the new year kicks in, full of new possibilities and opportunities. Thank you, dearest readers for being with me the past one year, it would not have been so much fun without you!

I have been irregular with my posts this December, and for that I apologize. But nevertheless, it has been an amazing month, the best December so far in my life! Its time to return  home now, though, to dear old warm and sunny Mumbai. You can expect to see a lot of clothes I snatched up during the winter sales here in NYC, and be jealous because they are all oh so summery! (Not referring to my Indian friends here.)

And and. I apologise I haven't been replying to comments, but I want to get back in touch with all of you as soon as I get back!<3

The fashion part: I adore this vintage gold dress, so I wore it at home for a quick shoot. I couldn't dream of wearing it out, however, New York is freezing even with my overcoat on!

See you guys in a week!

Lots of Love,

Shubhi!

Beating The Blues with Neon

Hello my lovelies! I have been having a kind-of busy week, and haven't been able to do an outfit shoot for the longest time ever. But well, here it is!

I can't really give up on neon ever, I think. Plus I had these bangles left over from the DIY hanger I made a few days back, so popped them on! All my outfits have been falling into monochromatic off late, and I wanted to put an end to that!

And I haven't been able to wear this corset ever since I got it from the US last year, and I finally had an eureka moment where I realized that this was the way to wear it comfortably(and conservatively, of course).

Love,
Have a wonderful weekend, dear friends!

Polka Dots and Coffee

So this is what I wore on a coffee date...I do not know why I have a pan face in the pictures...i was literally laughing and giggling throughout! Im like Chandler Bing when it comes for smiling for pictures...or so my sister says.

Not a good trait at all, I know, I know.

I did Peplum before it went out, Yay.
Frankly, I'm not much of a trend person, but I find this Peplum jacket/top whatever from HnM really pretty..plus I can lap up anything if you put polka dots on it!:)

Its summer, so its cold coffee time! (Anytime is, actually!)

Earrings, Gift.
Cuff with elephants on it, Stolen from sis.

Wind in my hair and a measured smile:D

Golden Heels, Catwalk.

How did you like the outfit? Do let me know:)

And ooh, here's my Facebook page!
