DIY : Purse Primping

This purse was street shopped in a local market. It had been lying around in my closet for sometime, and I decided to give it a face lift .  It already had this pretty braid all around it, so all it needed was some painted-on Polka dots!

Materials: Brush, Acryllic/Fabric Paints in the desired shade.

It is important to note that the shade of polka dots you choose can make or break the new look of your bag. I decided to go for this dreamy, almost neon pink shade(That I got by mixing two shades)   , which has (thank heavens)  ended up looking preppy and fun!
Another colour, like perhaps red, would have looked boring and predictable.

Another tip: Choose a plain bag, with not too many embellishments or buckles.

Too many instructions?  Never mind. Just do your thing, clip on a flower or a bow, and you have your own unique DIY primped purse!

I apologize that I haven't been replying to blog comments off late..It is unforgivable of me! But I've been so swamped(Preparing for design interviews), that the posts are just getting auto-published from my drafts...I'll be back full swing next week!

Accessory Post: Silver Danglers

I love accessories. My taste in jewellery is quite wide and unbiased. Gold or silver, diamond or ruby, I do not discriminate. (gift hint gift hint.) Indian jewellery, in general, is so rich and varied. There are intricate designs, varied materials, and distinctive regional styles. Its quite a wonder, really.

This post features my new silver earrings, which are a gift from Gujarat!

Aren't they delightful? Scarlett O'Hara said that dangling earrings always made a girl appear more spirited, because they bobbed as she moved her head. And that's exactly how I feel when I wear these. The happy feeling and the tinkling sound of them in my ears make them totally worth it, despite their weight!

Love,
Shubhi!

PS: This post was supposed to be published yesterday, it was scheduled so!Wonder why it didn't. Ah well, even softwares don't listen to you these days.

Butterflies on a Jewelled Tree

My sister is a super stylish girl, and you can tell just by the way she stores her earrings. And she is very extremely organized, atleast 10 times more organized than me. I have NEVER seen such a beautiful jewel tree in my whole life... Not to mention the enviable earring collection!

I have reached New York, and there's so much to do and so much to write about, I don't know where to begin! It snowed the first day I was here, what a perfect start to a trip!
Hope you'll have a fabulous weekend!

Bag It!

This is a DIY bag I have been meaning to show you for ever so long! It is modified, actually. The original bag was boring and unused.

Materials used: Coir rope(which is twined around the handles).
Acryllic paint(With which I painted the queen's face and the lavender accents)
Stick on pearls!

Tomorrow is Diwali, the festival of lights! The windows are decorated with fairy lights and lanterns, The doorways with oil lamps, and there is a stack of areal fireworks waiting to be lit! And lets not forget the sweets and all other super stuff.

Its my favourite festival of the year, and I am off to celebrate!

Shubhi's Top 5 Fun Fashion Favourites

Fashion is like recreation, it ought to be easy and fun. So whenever you're in a fashion fix, having these 5 fun things will help you out, whatever you're wearing! They are certified to make any outfit (Even the simplest) fun, different, and special!

Flowers Pins are the easiest of the lot.  Just clip them on your hair, clothes or wherever, to get an instant Boho Fix!

Ahh, I bet all of you already know this one. Next time you go shoe shopping. just pick the one shoe that makes you smile, because it has that bright colour you adore! The rest is easy. Slip it on, on a neutral outfit(or not), and feel the envy.

Now the kokiness can vary. If you are a safe girl, you probably think the bag above is  fun. If you're more adventurous, you probably want a red bag with skulls on it. The choice is all yours. Pick (or modify or DIY) a bag that you think elevates your fashion status two notches higher!

For the less adventurous, these are  the safest bet! Mostly because they are so tiny! But you know what they are shaped like, you love them, and they make you happy. That's what matters.

Oooh. Every girl must have the one perfume reserved for special occasions  or just when she needs a pick-me-up. It could make you feel flirty, feminine,or sexy. Just stay away from the one with rockstar blood in it, please.

What is your favourite fun accessory? Do let me know in the comments!:)

Love,
Shubhi!

The ONE  glittery thing every girl should have. Glitter on clothes or bags or shoes-too over the top for you? I know what you mean!

I have fallen in love with this accessory ever since I  bought it...It can transform any day look into night-time glamour! It is a different story that I am wearing it with everything-morning, afternoon, and night.
But its tough not to!

DIY: Thread and Heart Necklace

This is a simple DIY necklace I made the other day..
You can use any trinket or locket you have, the heart is from a broken chain!

You will need:

1)Hair Pin- Golden or Bronze

2)Three Colours of embroidery floss or thread

3)A pendant of your choice!

Bend the pin open with a pliers, and also bend its edges outwards as shown in (2).

Cut the threads slightly longer then the length required to go around your head..I used a double strand of each colour..

Braid the threads for a small length(4), and then simply knot them at regular intervals(5)!

Attach thee thread-braid at the pin-end and secure with fabric glue(6)!

I kind of made this a bit carelessly, we want the end result to be slightly rustic looking..

How did you like this DIY? Its simple, right? And I think it would go amazingly well with a nautical look-maybe you can substitute an anchor pendant for the heart?

And ooh. Before I forget! You can find me today at http://m-scribbles.blogspot.in/2012/08/long-day.html I wrote a guest poem on her blog! She is a dear friend of mine!:)

Van Gogh Colours

Hello my lovelies!:)

I owe you a big big apology...I was out at the farmhouse and back again in this topsy-turvy week, and nothing was going right-And I forgot my laptop and memory card there too!
Finally, things are back on track!

A parcel from my sister yesterday, with gifts for mom and me!:)

Containing-My beautiful Van-Gogh Silk scarf, that i am super excited about!!

At first, I just thought it was a scarf with really pretty colours, but when I spread it out...I was blown away! It was one of my favourite  paintings: ' Cafe Terrace at Night!'

Van Gogh has always inspired me, and today I realize that it is through his paintings that I learnt how attractive wild juxtaposition of colours can be-The fuchsia pinks and the sap greens, The midnight blues and the chrome yellows...

Its a square scarf of the softest silk imaginable, And though I tied it in a semi-elaborate knot around my neck, it just wouldn't stay in the wind! So i let it fly, like it wanted to:)

I chose to pair it with a simple cream top with a hint of lace, and a shrug, and jeans! Silver Shoes from Metro..

Van Gog's Famous  Cafe Terrace at Night

One more thing I want to say-Thank You so much for your lovely lovely comments, they always put a smile on my face! I shall be replying to previous week's comments soon!

Any of you Van-Gogh Fans out there? Do let me know!
And how do you like my scarf?:)

Love,
Shubhi!

Lego Tales

I've been eyeing my LEGO sets wistfully since the past year, pondering whether I have outgrown them or not...

Well, as it turns out, I haven't!XD

I think it was the easiest statement necklace I ever made, and it looks equally fab! Played about with some combinations of flat blocks, picked one that looked the best, strung a chain into it, and viola!

This look is mostly about the statement necklace..
I figured it would show best with black-The blue belt adds more colour!

Couldn't resist adding these two pictures: My cat 'Billu' is the cutest poser ever!

Plus she has this annoying habit of wanting to be higher than her humans-(Ofcourse you know that a cat thinks she owns her 'owners':p) At home, she frequents the attics, tops of cupboards, and showcases!

The look is space-age warrior (eh, whatever:D)with a little colour thrown in!

Got these stacked-on metal rings from the street-market that day!

I am sure you all played LEGO as kids...I was a huge lego enthusiast and me and my best friend  used to combine our lego sets(I had Moon-station and Fire Brigade, he had a Huge General purpose set!) and hoped to build something truly spectacular:) I think we built many truly spectacular things, only to tear them down again, and start afresh!
That's the beauty of lego, you never stop trying to expand your imagination!

My trusty silver ballerinas-Most comfortable shoes ever!

So when are you'll going to try your own lego DIYs? I think they lend themselves excellently to statement jewellery! Cant wait to see your creations!

Do leave a comment if you like the idea!
xoxo
