A Post that Never got Published

Back in April, 2013, I worked on a post that I never published, for some reason. 

I look back at it, and it's almost surreal :) Nothing much has changed since then, except that...too much has changed!

I love how it has references to almost everything that's special to me in my life even right now, especially the friends and the places! So, here it goes:

10 Things I did Last Month

1. Spent some time with my pet cat, and my camera. 

2. Designed and made this DIY lantern with some steel wire and post-it notes. Mood lighting for my room!

3. Did a photoshoot on the building terracce.

4.Spent some time in our vacation home with family.

5.Welcomed in the bright sunshine. Hola Summer!

6.Excitedly received this parcel from Precious You, I won a giveaway at The Fashion Flite! Everything about it was beautiful, the earrings, the package, and the cute little note!

7. Went for a lunch date in town. 

 8. Reminisced about old friends. Dug out old pictures and edited them...I'm an obsessive compulsive photo editor, by the way.

9.Grabbed a coffee at the newly opened Starbucks with a friend. I love the way Starbucks in India has a whole new luxury brand identity, as opposed to the regular-street-corner-cofeeshop look abroad

10. Booked tickets to this place. I'm going next week to attend a dear friend's wedding! So excited, have to get busy planning some Indian traditional outfits soon!

In Praise of the Kanchan

It was one of those mornings,  after months of ceaseless rain, the sun rose up in full splendour.

The seed-heads on the long grass-stalks blinked, squinting skywards.

The air smelt of the grass and the forest, while bees buzzed around, trying to dodge a profusion of butterflies.

It was during one such  morning, that she went out into her garden, and saw that the Kanchan tree had burst into purple bloom overnight.

She plucked as many as she could, and put them in her hair.

The soft fragrance hung in the air.

September Mood

September is indeed the month of inspiration. Of rigour, forced writing, photography, cooking, the works. We need to fill our lives with things we love, and our passions serve as a guiding principle for how we should fill our time.

I love reaching out to my readers with visuals. They speak a thousand words, they evoke a mood, a space, a slice of time. 

I'm currently buzzing with an armful of ideas, fuelled by these pictures that have been pinned on my Pintrest boards for some time now. :) Idyllic suburban parks, Embroidery on denim, Flowers, and Vintagey prints - what more could anyone ask for?

Dreams in Newsprint

I walk alone, in a castle of dreams, wearing a paper dress. The paper envelopes me, it makes me beautiful. It sweeps the floor when I walk, and crinkles when I sit. 

It is the most beautiful dress I have ever worn.

Sometimes you create things so amazing, you didn't know you had the ability to! That is just what happened with this photoshoot. A friend and classmate of mine, Upasana, dreamt up of this surreal project, and made it happen! We sat up till late, making paper fans and pasting it to the dress, planned the hair, makeup, and locations beforehand. 

It took me about an hour to get into costume, and another, posing in the dress that was taped tightly on-to me, but it was totally worth it! I need more such fairytales in my life :)

Why I Love the Monsoon

 Here in India, we have a thriving Monsoon season for four lovely months of the year! And the dark rainy clouds do a nice job of covering up a hot blazing peak-summer sun! What bliss!

I experienced this when I was on a flight recently...As the plane took off from what was a lovely dark day, and climbed higher in the sky...higher, through the clouds...and Bam! There the blinding Sun was! I had to shut my eyes for a second to get used to the light! Thank God for the clouds:)

I got a bit poetic about it too:D


"It feels like morning all day..
without a clock you'd be lost!
no hint of time till the cloudy night makes its way..
Ahh, I love the monsoon!"


So here's why:

Fresh Fruits, Fresh everything!

I don't have to water the plants in my window!

Monsoon Sales at all the shops..Ooooooh:D How cool is this design on this tee-shirt?

Storms lashing in the trees and the wind whistling in my window...exciting:D

New black rainy shoes that I can slip into, wherever I go, without thinking!

Neon umbrellas everywhere..

 My very-outdoorsy cat stays at home all the time because she hates water!

 Everywhere  I look-Greeeeeeeen!

I've been doing a lot of DIY projects lately...since I am indoors most of the time! Gotta take pictures and show them to you asap:) Stay tuned..
