Causeway Shopping!

 Hello to all the girly girls out there!  I was feeling really bored and useless the other day, and decided that my new camera needed some exercise, and my soul, some shiny stuff!
And that's when you head straight to Colaba Causeway!
It is a lane(a causeway acually) running under old bulidings,  A block away from the Arabian sea! Okay, weird geographical description, check out the map!  Tourists from all over the world are a common sight here, wearing their newly purchased Bohemian Best!

The atmosphere is lively with the vendors trying to sell their wares to the tourists( at sky high prices) in broken English, and the flute sellers and drum sellers playing their music, and so many colourful and shiny distractions!

Now...that's a LOT of earrings! It made my head reel just to pick one to buy!!

Its all about finding a good bargain..

The interior of My favourite seconds store! I swear I get dreams about this shop...especially if I want an outfit badly  but I cannot buy it right away! It has a lovely laidback atmosphere and has 70's Pop playing full volume in the background! So upbeat! This time they played Dancing Queen and I swear I twirled in the mirror right in the middle of the shop!

 I loved  a military print cardigan, which would look sooo chic, belted at the waist! But I ran out money buying other stuff(Sigh!) Still dreaming about it...

Wands Raised!

This is a post for all you Harry Potter Fans out there!!

I spent my childhood reading, dreaming (and dreaming a bit more) about the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter, and was inconsolable that I was a muggle. I created paper broomsticks, dragon miniatures, and an Invisibility Cloak out of a curtain, beneath which i disappeared to avoid doing homework!!(unsuccessfully:p).
Okay, I'm not crazy. And all this was before the movies came out, so it was even more of a creative process! I still sometimes try to summon the remote when its not with me on the couch! "Accio remote!"

So imagine my delight when I got to visit the Harry Potter theme park in Florida last year. I edited these pictures to make them as wizardy as i could....hope you like them!

Hogwarts!

The Triwizard Tournament-a magical contest held between the three largest wizarding schools of Europe: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Durmstrang Institute, and the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.

The Monster book of Monsters startled the kids by growling and snapping at them as they peered into the cage! Cool, right?

Aah...Honeydukes! It was pretty, sugary sweet, and just as I imagined it to be! Complete with every flavoured beans...which I did not dare try!

"You want to be careful with these. When they say every flavour, they mean every flavour - you know you get all the ordinary ones like chocolate and peppermint and marmalade, but then you can get spinach and liver and tripe. George reckons he had a bogey-flavoured one once."

And yes, it was summer( though the unmelting snow on the diagon alley rooftops belied the fact), and a flagon-full of ice cold pumpkin juice was more than welcome..

And there's my sister and me, Hogwarts Joining Letters and school-trunks in hand, ready to board the Hogwarts Express! I'm off to Hogwartssssss!!

Hastings-on-Hudson

This is a section I will be doing on pretty towns and places...both at home and abroad..

And this is the prettiest little town I've ever visited, and it is the Hastings-on-Hudson in NY.


The sun shone bright one summer morning as I took the bus from my sister's place in Yonkers and got down at the bus stop in Hastings..

The quaint old charm, the antique shops, the rolling lawns, and the tiny shops and eateries, all made me feel like i had stepped right into a medieval English town..

Among the things I did here: Visited the post office because I had a few letters, and bought Collection stamps!

Ate the most amazing Shawarma at a Lebanese Eatery!

Bought a brownie square from the local bakery...

Just wandered around as I waited for the 1:40 PM bus.

Inside the Antique shop...I don't remember its name...I bought two wooden Japanese prints to hang on my wall back at home!

College Festival!

Here's a collage of pictures of my annual college festival called Symphony...we had a major blast dressing up, taking pictures, Zorbing, and dancing the night away!

Its my last year in college and I want to have as much fun  as possible in these remaining months! Sob!

Playing with Fans!

Guess what I did all weekend?
Painted Hand Fans!

My dad got some plain paper hand fans years ago, from China...And I was struck with a sudden inspiration that I must paint them, and now!

 This blue one i painted a year back..

I really love the Tree of Life Pattern, so i played about with it yet again! On the pink fan..

And the Last one, I wanted to keep it simple, so just added some glitter triangles on green ink background!


Please tell me if you like them...I put them on my living room wall in rotation!

A Colour Story

This is the outfit I wore when I went to town the other day..

Mumbai is hot in the afternoons...be it winter or summer...so this colourful cotton "kurti"-Which is like a tunic...was very very comfortable.

And I'm sure i coloured up the city pretty well too! ;)

I'm Shubhi. From Mumbai! I'm almost done with my Engineering degree, though it does not matter here, in the least. I want to be a product designer. Or an interaction designer! Or an Illustrator. (Well, something in the design line!)
